On The Street
He was on a busy corner, talking to the crowd
Most didn’t stop to listen, others stopped to doubt
I don’t know why I stopped, I was in a hurry that day
Something drew me in, needed to know what he’d say
He asked one simple question, what happens when you die?
I thought I knew the answer, but that was just a lie
Then he asked a couple questions, have you ever stolen anything
Have you lusted after women, or sex before the ring
Have you used God’s name as a curse word, disrespected Him at all
Have you dishonored your parents, ignore them when they call
What you have just said, whether or not you agree
Hell is where your headed, where eternally you’ll be
You have said you’re a lying thief, and have blasphemed His Name
You committed adultery, because thoughts are just the same
He spoke with love and passion through the mockery all night
This cut me to the heart because I knew that he was right
When he asked if this concerns you, most just gave a laugh
But I was scared for my soul, there was no turning back
I was guilty, yeah, there ain’t no doubt
Every word he said called me out
But mercy met me in that crowd
Turned my whole life around
Now I ain’t the man I used to be
’Cause the cross made a change in me
Through the crowd, up to the man with tears in my eyes
I said, “sir what must I do, I am scared for when I die?”
He said there was a Man who suffered what you deserve
He took your sin upon the Cross as predicted in His Word
The beating was brutal, but that was not the worst
He was under the Wrath of God, for you He was accursed
If you want salvation, you want forgiveness of your sin
Jesus is the only Way, He alone can let you in
Your good deeds are an insult to the suffering He took
Only trust in Jesus, as written in His Book
Confess your sins, call out to Him, through your broken heart
Surrender to King Jesus, He’ll give you a new start
When you truly repent, not just with idle words
The spirit of God comes in, causing a complete turn
Things you once loved, will disgust you to even say
You will begin to live for Jesus, His Word, His will, His Way
You will understand His Word, more precious than gold
Thought is not lost on you, “what if I was never told?”
Forgiveness of sin, eternal life, promises He gave
The Way, the Truth, the Life -Jesus the Only Way
Now I know the Gospel, redemption for a sinner like me
All because of one man with boldness on the street
I was guilty, yeah, there ain’t no doubt
Every word he said called me out
But mercy met me in that crowd
Turned my whole life around
Now I ain’t the man I used to be
’Cause the cross made a change in me

Build It On The Rock
Truth for my son, and his soon to be bride
Sharing mistakes made, as they start their new life
By the time a man thinks, “maybe his dad was right”
He’s got son that thinks he’s wrong, continuing the fight
Even if that is true, I pray that he’ll receive
Because happiness isn’t found by what you think you need
Two hearts chosen, a promise to make
