On The Street | Build It On The Rock | Don’t Bet On Tomorrow | When The Waters Rise | Sky’s Still Preaching | When the Pressure Hits  | The Inner Man | If You’re Sorry | Shadow of The Most High

On The Street
He was on a busy corner, talking to the crowd
Most didn’t stop to listen, others stopped to doubt
I don’t know why I stopped, I was in a hurry that day
Something drew me in, needed to know what he’d say
He asked one simple question, what happens when you die?
I thought I knew the answer, but that was just a lie
Then he asked a couple questions, have you ever stolen anything
Have you lusted after women, or sex before the ring
Have you used God’s name as a curse word, disrespected Him at all
Have you dishonored your parents, ignore them when they call
What you have just said, whether or not you agree
Hell is where your headed, where eternally you’ll be
You have said you’re a lying thief, and have blasphemed His Name
You committed adultery, because thoughts are just the same
He spoke with love and passion through the mockery all night
This cut me to the heart because I knew that he was right
When he asked if this concerns you, most just gave a laugh
But I was scared for my soul, there was no turning back
I was guilty, yeah, there ain’t no doubt
Every word he said called me out
But mercy met me in that crowd
Turned my whole life around
Now I ain’t the man I used to be
’Cause the cross made a change in me
Through the crowd, up to the man with tears in my eyes
I said, “sir what must I do, I am scared for when I die?”
He said there was a Man who suffered what you deserve
He took your sin upon the Cross as predicted in His Word
The beating was brutal, but that was not the worst
He was under the Wrath of God, for you He was accursed
If you want salvation, you want forgiveness of your sin
Jesus is the only Way, He alone can let you in
Your good deeds are an insult to the suffering He took
Only trust in Jesus, as written in His Book
Confess your sins, call out to Him, through your broken heart
Surrender to King Jesus, He’ll give you a new start
When you truly repent, not just with idle words
The spirit of God comes in, causing a complete turn
Things you once loved, will disgust you to even say
You will begin to live for Jesus, His Word, His will, His Way
You will understand His Word, more precious than gold
Thought is not lost on you, “what if I was never told?”
Forgiveness of sin, eternal life, promises He gave
The Way, the Truth, the Life -Jesus the Only Way
Now I know the Gospel, redemption for a sinner like me
All because of one man with boldness on the street
I was guilty, yeah, there ain’t no doubt
Every word he said called me out
But mercy met me in that crowd
Turned my whole life around
Now I ain’t the man I used to be
’Cause the cross made a change in me

Build It On The Rock
Truth for my son, and his soon to be bride
Sharing mistakes made, as they start their new life
By the time a man thinks, “maybe his dad was right”
He’s got son that thinks he’s wrong, continuing the fight
Even if that is true, I pray that he’ll receive
Because happiness isn’t found by what you think you need
Two hearts chosen, a promise to make
More than a moment, it’s the vows you’ll take
“I’ve learned some things the hard way in life
About love, about faith, about husband and wife
And if you’ll sit down, listen to this slow
There’s a truth you both need to know”
You’re not first, no—you’re not the center
There’s a higher love to remember
God above all, and you’re not even number two
It’s the one right beside you, then, then comes you
If you keep the proper order, founded on the Rock
Your love will last a lifetime, it will never stop
Don’t chase pride when you disagree
Love ain’t about what you want, it’s about humilty
It’s patience, it’s grace, it’s choosing each day
To put their heart before your way
There’ll be moments you don’t understand
When you’re both just tryin’ to take a stand
But stop, listen—don’t just speak
Strength is found when you’re gentle and weak”
You’re not first, no—you’re not the center
There’s a higher love to remember
God above all, and you’re not even number two
It’s the one right beside you, then, then comes you
If you keep the proper order, founded on the Rock
Your love will last a lifetime, it will never stop
You’re not perfect, and neither are they
But somehow you fit in a beautiful way
So be patient with every flaw you see
That’s where love grows faithfully
Through 2, 10, 20, 50 years
Through all the laughter, through all the tears
If you keep God first, you’re gonna stand
Like a house built strong on steady land
You’re not first, no—you’re not the center
There’s a higher love to remember
God above all, and you’re not even number two
It’s the one right beside you, then, then comes you
If you keep the proper order, founded on the Rock
Your love will last a lifetime, it will never stop

Don’t Bet On Tomorrow
I used to talk like I owned the sunrise
Like I had time stacked up in my hands
Made my plans like they’d never change
Like forever was part of the plan
But I’ve seen a storm roll in without warning
Turn a blue sky into gray
Now I hold every breath like a blessing
‘Cause I don’t know what a day might bring
I learned real quick what matters most
A quiet truth my daddy told
Don’t bet on tomorrow, it ain’t yours to claim
Let your life do the talking, don’t be chasing a name
Take the hard words from a friend who won’t lie
They might cut deep, but they save your life
Hold on close to the ones who stay
When the world turns cold and walks away
Yeah, love like you mean it, speak what’s true
And live like today’s all you get to do
I’ve carried anger like a loaded weapon
Watched it burn everything I knew
And jealousy’ll steal your peace in silence
‘Til there’s nothing left of you
But a brother who tells you the hard things
Is worth more than a thousand cheers
And a stranger’s praise don’t mean much
If the ones you love ain’t near
I’ve been both lost and found in grace
Saw my own heart face to face
Don’t bet on tomorrow, it ain’t yours to claim
Let your life do the talking, don’t be chasing a name
Take the hard words from a friend who won’t lie
They might cut deep, but they save your life
Hold on close to the ones who stay
When the world turns cold and walks away
Yeah, love like you mean it, speak what’s true
And live like today’s all you get to do
I’ve seen a man leave his home behind
Like a bird that forgot how to fly
And I’ve seen a quiet neighbor show up strong
When no bloodline was standing by
Yeah, iron sharpens iron, that’s the truth
We’re better when we walk side by side
And what you tend is what will grow
So guard your soul, guard your time
Riches fade and crowns fall down
But the seeds you sow come back around
So take care of what heaven gave
Before it’s gone, before it fades
Don’t bet on tomorrow, it ain’t yours to claim
Let your life do the talking, don’t be chasing a name
Take the hard road when it’s right, not easy
Let your heart stay humble, your vision clear and steady
Hold on close to the ones who stay
When the world turns cold and walks away
Yeah, love like you mean it, speak what’s true
And live like today’s all you get to do
Yeah, live like today’s all you get to do…
‘Cause you don’t know what tomorrow’s gonna bring…

When The Waters Rise
When the river banks break
And the dark tide rolls in
Tell me where will you run
When the end begins
Will the ground that you trust
Still hold where you stand
Or wash like the sand
Right out of your hands
There’s a Rock that has stood
Through the flood and the flame
Unshaken, unbroken
Forever the same
It ain’t if the waters come
It’s just when they rise
They’ll come in a whisper
While the world’s cryin’ “peace” with blind eyes
But no peace for the foolish
No rest for the proud
Only those on the Rock
Standin’ firm when it’s loud
He’s callin’ from Heaven
You’ve heard it before
Don’t harden your heart
Don’t turn from the door
When the waters rise and the night falls down
When the truth cuts through and there’s no safe ground
There’s only one Rock that won’t give way
Only one name that can save your soul today
When the storm rolls in and the world gives out
You’ll find out what you stood on now
Yeah the wind, the waves—they testify
Only the Rock of Christ survives
You’re hearin’ it now
Yeah you’re hearin’ the Way
Every debt that you carry
Has already been paid
Lay your pride in the dust
At the King’s feet tonight
He’ll wash you clean
Bring you into the light
Drop your weapons of war
They won’t help in the end
There ain’t no party in hell
And you won’t find a friend
No light, no mercy
No rest for your soul
Don’t trade forever
For a lie you can’t hold
When the waters rise and the night falls down
When the truth cuts through and there’s no safe ground
There’s only one Rock that won’t give way
Only one name that can save your soul today
When the storm rolls in and the world gives out
You’ll find out what you stood on now
Yeah the wind, the waves—they testify
Only the Rock of Christ survives
Don’t trade your life for a bowl of dust
Don’t walk away from the One you can trust
Surrender now, let your chains be loosed
There’s mercy waiting, there’s life in the truth
When the waters rise and the sky turns black
Ain’t no turning ‘round, ain’t no turning back
There’s only one Rock that will remain
Through the flood, through fire, through the rain
When it all comes down and the last winds cry
You’ll know what lives and what will die
Yeah the storm, the fire—they testify
Only the Rock of Christ survives
When the river banks break
And the waters roll through
There’s a Rock still standing
I’m standin’ on truth

Sky’s Still Preaching
Sun comes up on a wide-open field
Fire in the sky, you can feel what’s real
No preacher standin’ on a corner street
But the wind and the stars keep talkin’ to me
Day rolls on, night rolls through
Every star sings the same old truth
No words spoken, but the whole world knows
There’s a hand in the way that the river flows
Yeah the sky’s still preachin’, loud and clear
From the edge of heaven to right down here
Every sunrise runnin’ like a victory song
Tellin’ every heart where we belong
Gold can’t buy what His word can give
Sweet like honey, that’s the way we live
From the mountains high to the desert floor
His truth keeps knockin’ on your door
A simple man on a dusty road
Finds a light in the lines that the Good Book wrote
Straight and strong like a southern wind
Cuts through doubt and the weight of sin
Makes the blind eyes start to see
Sets a restless heart free
Every line like a guiding flame
Callin’ every lost soul back again
Yeah the sky’s still preachin’, loud and clear
From the edge of heaven to right down here
Every sunrise runnin’ like a victory song
Tellin’ every heart where we belong
Gold can’t buy what His word can give
Sweet like honey, that’s the way we live
From the mountains high to the desert floor
His truth keeps knockin’ on your door
Bridge (spoken / half-sung)
Lord, keep my feet on the narrow line
Guard this heart and this tongue of mine
If the world gets loud and I lose my way
Pull me back before I stray
Yeah the sky’s still preachin’, can’t you hear
From the burning sun to the midnight sphere
Every road I walk, every mile I roam
Your word keeps leadin’ me back home
My rock, my strength, my redeemer’s hand
Holdin’ tight to this wandering man.

When The Pressure Hits
When you squeeze on an orange, what you get? Juice spillin’
But when life got hands on your neck—what’s revealed in?
Is it rage, is it venom, is it hate that you hold?
Or that spirit that was planted deep inside of your soul?
See, pressure don’t create—it just exposes the core
What you built yourself on when nobody was sure
If you’d fold or stand firm when the heat get severe
Do you move in faith… or react outta fear?
Yeah, I used to snap quick, irritation was king
Every little inconvenience made me ready to swing
Lust in my vision, self-gratification my route
Now I’m fighting every impulse tryna choke it all out
‘Cause it ain’t about the talk, it’s the walk in the storm
Who you are when it’s hard—that’s your truest form
You can claim you got peace, but when chaos arrives
Do you live what you preach… or just say it in lines?
When the pressure hits—what you lettin’ out?
Love or rage? Better spell it out
When you squeezed, do you break or grow?
What’s inside you? Let it show
When the pressure hits—who you gonna be?
Self-control or hostility?
You say you different—prove it now
Don’t just talk it—live it out
“To be different, you gotta move different”—I learned
Not just words on a page, it’s a fire that burns
See, the world say react, let your anger explode
But the Word say control what you carry and hold
God ain’t give me fear, nah, He gave me the reins
Power, love, self-control in my veins
So I’m checkin’ every thought when it start to ignite
Turnin’ darkness into discipline, wrong into right
I was wild, no walls, like a city exposed
Every impulse had access, every weakness it knows
Proverbs warned me—no control, you’re defenseless
Now I guard my mind like a fortress relentless
Slow to anger? That’s strength, not weak
Takes more power to pause than to snap and speak
Anybody can lash, that’s the easy route
But it takes real kings just to hold it down, no doubt
When the pressure hits—what you lettin’ out?
Love or rage? Better spell it out
When you squeezed, do you break or grow?
What’s inside you? Let it show
When the pressure hits—who you gonna be?
Self-control or hostility?
You say you different—prove it now
Don’t just talk it—live it out
Love… joy… peace… patience…
Kindness, goodness, faith—no fakin’
Gentleness, self-control—foundation
Or you fall to anger, fear, frustration
Yeah—this that mirror talk, look yourself dead in the face
Ain’t about perfection, it’s the steps that you take
Every reaction a seed, every action a sign
Of what’s really livin’ deep inside your mind
You can quote every verse, every line, every phrase
But it’s tested in the fire, not the comfort of praise
When they push you, provoke you, disrespect to your name
Do you rise with control or just add to the flame?
You can quote every verse, every line, every phrase
But it’s tested in the fire, not the comfort of praise
When they push you, provoke you, disrespect to your name
Do you rise with control or just add to the flame?
I ain’t sayin’ it’s easy, I’m just sayin’ it’s real
Every moment’s a choice, every wound gotta heal
So I’m killin’ the old me, yeah, daily I try
Let the Spirit take the wheel while the ego just dies
So when life squeeze tight…
And the pressure don’t quit…
Ask yourself—
What comes out… when pressure hits?

The Inner Man
In the quiet of the morning light
Genesis whisperin’ who we are inside
Made in the image of the Holy One
More than dust beneath the sun
There’s a battlefield in every heart
Where the flesh and spirit pull apart
Three voices echo deep within
The place where every choice begins
The mind sees truth along the way
The heart feels fire when truth is seen
And the will decides the road we take
Between the shadows and the King
It starts in the mind where the truth burns bright
Then the heart catches fire in the Spirit’s light
Then the will stands strong and makes its choice
To follow the Shepherd’s voice
Think on truth and your soul will stand
Guard the thoughts of the inner man
When the Spirit and the Word agree
That truth will set your spirit free
Mary pondered what the angels said
David cried with a bowed-down head
Deep within where the soul remembers
Where the truth of God still burns like embers
The spirit knows what no one sees
The hidden thoughts, the silent pleas
Every desire, every fight
Every longing toward the light
Your thoughts will stir the fire inside
Your heart will move where truth has led
And every step your will decides
Is shaped by what your mind has said
It starts in the mind where the truth burns bright
Then the heart catches fire in the Spirit’s light
Then the will stands strong and makes its choice
To follow the Shepherd’s voice
Think on truth and your soul will stand
Guard the thoughts of the inner man
When the Spirit and the Word agree
That truth will set your spirit free
Take the helmet of salvation
Lift the sword of God’s own Word
Pray in Spirit, stand in freedom
Every lie will lose its power
Strongholds fall when truth is spoken
Chains will break inside your mind
Take every thought and bring it captive
Leave the darkness far behind
It starts in the mind where the truth burns bright
Then the heart finds joy in heaven’s light
Then the will walks out the narrow way
Choosing Christ day after day
Think on truth and your soul will stand
Guard the thoughts of the inner man
When the Spirit and the Word agree
That truth will set your spirit free
Mind and heart and will aligned
Walking in the truth divine
The Spirit leads and the Word will stand
Life begins in the inner man.

If You’re Sorry
Yeah…
Same fight, different day
Heart heavy but I still pray
Let’s go
Same story, different day, same road that I stray
Say I love Jesus but I wander away
After every fall I swear, “This the last time I quit”
Through the shame and the sorrow I’m convinced that’s it
But temptation ain’t temptation, man it’s really a test
Am I servin’ God above or the pull of the flesh?
But the test turned to sin, now I’m stuck in the mire
Tryna walk in the light but I’m draggin’ through the fire
Only One who redeems, only One who can save
Only King Jesus conquered death in the grave
He’ll take you as you are but you can’t stay the same
When you’re new in Christ you’re walkin’ new lanes
But maybe I’m not different, maybe I ain’t redeemed
So I’m crying out to heaven, Lord rescue me
If I’m so sorry why I keep doin’ it?
Why I fall again when I’m through with it?
Livin’ this sin-sorry life like a hypocrite
Tryna fight the flesh but I’m losin’ it
Still I run back to the cross again
Grace covers every loss and sin
Even when I fall in the dark of night
Lord I’m still gonna stay in the fight
I’d rather write about the day that I conquered sin
But instead I write about the war again
Maybe through these pages God will hear my shout
While I’m wrestlin’ with the fear and the doubt
Washed in the blood of the Lamb, still I question inside
Tryna keep my hands on the plow, keep my walk in a line
But every time I stumble it’s a painful thread
Just a reminder that the old man ain’t dead
Tryna cleanse myself, tryna do what’s right
Through the Spirit of God not my own might
Left alone I’ll fall for the enemy’s lies
But I don’t want that life, Lord open my eyes
I deserve Your wrath, yeah I know that’s right
But I’m still gonna stand and stay in the fight
Where else would I go when my soul feels lost?
You alone got the words of life at the cross
If I’m so sorry why I keep doin’ it?
Why I fall again when I’m through with it?
Livin’ this sin-sorry life like a hypocrite
Tryna fight the flesh but I’m losin’ it
Still I run back to the cross again
Grace covers every loss and sin
Even when I fall in the dark of night
Lord I’m still gonna stay in the fight
You said in Your Word let the weak say strong
But I’m weak of the weak feel like I don’t belong
See my brothers and sisters servin’ You well
While I’m lookin’ at the places where I just fell
But grace ain’t measured by the wins I claim
It’s mercy every time I call Your name
So even when my faith feels paper thin
I’m still getting up to fight again
Yeah…
Same fight, different day
But His mercy new every morning
So I rise… and pray.

Shadow of The Most High
In the shelter of the Most High
Where the silent shadows fall
I’m standing in Your presence
You’re the refuge of my soul
Through the darkness all around me
When the night begins to rise
I will trust in You forever
You’re my fortress in the fight
When the hunter sets his trap for me
When the plague walks in the night
I will run beneath Your wings
And Your faithfulness is my shield tonight
Under the shadow of the Most High
I will never stand alone
You’re my refuge, You’re my stronghold
You’re the rock I’m standing on
Though a thousand fall beside me
Still my heart will not give way
In the shadow of the Almighty
You will guard me all my days
I won’t fear the midnight terror
Or the arrows in the sky
Every storm that comes against me
You will stand there by my side
When the darkness tries to claim me
When destruction fills the air
I will see Your hand of justice
And I’ll know You’re always there
No evil standing at my door
No plague inside these walls
You command Your angels
And they catch me when I fall
Under the shadow of the Most High
I will never stand alone
You’re my refuge, You’re my stronghold
You’re the rock I’m standing on
Though a thousand fall beside me
Still my heart will not give way
In the shadow of the Almighty
You will guard me all my days
Because my heart holds fast to You
You’ll never let me go
When I call Your name in trouble
You will answer from Your throne
You will rescue, You will honor
You will lift me when I fall
With the promise of salvation
You will stand above it all
In the shadow of the Most High
I will never stand alone
You’re my refuge, You’re my stronghold
You’re the rock I’m standing on
Through the fire and through the battle
Your protection will remain
In the shadow of the Almighty
I will trust You all my days
With long life You will satisfy me
And Your light will lead the way
In the shadow of the Almighty
I will trust You all my days
