Isaiah 14:13-14
You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’
Satan was prideful and didn’t stay in his appointed position. He wanted to be “like God”. Satan used this same appeal with the woman in Genesis 3, “you can be like God”.
- Satan is a liar and a deceiver
- The strategy of Satan is easy to identify in Genesis 3, but men still fall for it today
- Satan starts a dialog (a seemingly non-threatening dialog)
- Satan plants a seed of doubt
- Satan questions God’s character (as soon as you start to believe the father of lies instead of the One who is wholly Holy you are in trouble)
- Satan convinces that you can “be like God” (He gets men to well up with pride and say, “yea, I want to be like God”, and then you spend your life being the god of your own kingdom, not knowing your place, until you die and go to hell
- Satan suggests that God is holding back what you should have
