Bullet Point Scripture

The intention of this page is to bullet point a few items from a verse. The bullet points are only what hit me at the time in my study, there are certainly going to be more pearls than what I “bullet point” and I encourage you to start your own notebook of pearls that the Lord gives you as you study. In addition, the bullet points may also draw from other verses supporting the verse.

In some cases I may include more than one version of the text if it seems like it helps the understanding. I will be using the ESV and will indicate the version used when an additional version is posted.

The verses posted will not be in any particular order, they will be completely random based on what I am studying on a particular day.

Feel free to make comments in the comment section below so we can all learn and grow from what the Lord is showing us all in our studies. You can also add your own verse with bullet points if you’d like.

Quick Links to Verses:

Isaiah 14:13-14Galatians 5:13 | Galatians 5:16

Isaiah 14:13-14

You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’

Satan was prideful and didn’t stay in his appointed position. He wanted to be “like God”. Satan used this same appeal with the woman in Genesis 3, “you can be like God”.

  • Satan is a liar and a deceiver
  • The strategy of Satan is easy to identify in Genesis 3, but men still fall for it today
    • Satan starts a dialog (a seemingly non-threatening dialog)
    • Satan plants a seed of doubt
    • Satan questions God’s character (as soon as you start to believe the father of lies instead of the One who is wholly Holy you are in trouble)
    • Satan convinces that you can “be like God” (He gets men to well up with pride and say, “yea, I want to be like God”, and then you spend your life being the god of your own kingdom, not knowing your place, until you die and go to hell
    • Satan suggests that God is holding back what you should have

Galatians 5:13

For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

  • We are called to freedom from religion. Freedom from rules, regulations – freedom from the Law
  • Christ fulfilled the Law and salvation is for those who trust in His finished work. By faith alone, in Christ alone we are saved.
  • This freedom DOES NOT give license to gratify the flesh. Every time we gratify the flesh we dishonor someone else. When we love someone we won’t dishonor them

Galatians 5:16

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

  • Notice that the text says, “you will not gratify the desires of the flesh” – It DOES NOT say, “you will not have desires of the flesh”
  • This side of glory we will have desires of the flesh that we MUST wage war against
  • Victory in the war against the flesh is won when we walk by the Spirit
  • We walk by the Spirit when we are continually aware of, and seeking the will of God. We are walking by the Spirit when we respond to the conviction of the Spirit, and seek guidance and comfort from the Spirit
