How “Works”, Work

  • There is NO works, or effort, or ritual that man can do to save himself. (The fact that man continues to strive to be in good standing with God shows they instinctively know they are not)
  • God WORKS in us to bring us to salvation. (God convicts and converts the soul) We are a result of HIS works, we are His workmanship)
  • Once saved, God has “good works” for us to do; not as a means to be saved, but to glorify Him. The work He has prepared for us to do, that we now walk in, is evidence of His saving work in us.
  • We must, now, be careful not to strive to do works in the flesh. Many times we will rush toward something with excitement, ready to go full-throttle for God. But “doing good” that is not ordained by God is not good. We must be dependent upon and led by the Spirit. The branch dependently and simply abides in the vine and the vine provides everything the branch needs to bear fruit. That is how we must be, we must abide in Christ and He will work in and through us.

Rest in, and wait upon God to lead you into the work He has prepared for you to do.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

John 15:5 I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
